Lichtlaerm Altar Fuzz & Distortion Pedal
Dual Gain Monolith
Bring your sacrifices unto the Altar... and immanentize the eschaton.
The Altar is not a pedal — it’s a ritual. A relic. A weapon forged from fire, thunder, and saturated chaos. The latest incarnation of their dual-channel behemoth fuses searing high-gain fuzz/distortion with a colossal clean boost, designed to crush amps, split skies, and blur the line between musical expression and sonic blasphemy.
At its core, the fuzz circuit is a loosely summoned spirit of the Black Russian Big Muff — stretched, mangled, and reborn. From soaring Gilmourian sustain to molten doom-soaked riffage, sludge, stoner, and noise rock madness, this is your go-to for tone that refuses to behave.
Refined by Fire
Earlier versions served both guitar and bass alike. This new evolution is more focused — the guitar version leads the charge, bringing tighter control and a voice tailored for six-string prophecy.
The Blend knob is gone, replaced by a 3-band active EQ with ±18dB of cut/boost across Bass, Mids, and Treble — perfectly voiced for sculpting anything from classic scooped Muff roars to aggressive, mix-cutting fuzz with laser-focused mids.
The Depth control lets you dial in saturation character — from tight, amp-like drive to blown-out, speaker-destroying fuzz filth.
The EQ section is insanely powerful. Push it hard for extremes — fuzz with hi-fi clarity, or doom that sounds like tectonic plates grinding beneath you.
The Sacred Control: COMP
Introducing a new proprietary control: the COMP knob. This is your secret weapon — a morphing circuit that shifts the Altar's personality across an entire spectrum of gain. Blend from raw, dynamic distortion, to dry and violent Muff-style aggression, to smooth, organic Germanium-like overdrive. It’s not just a sound — it’s a shapeshifter.
And to fuel this wild ride, the Altar boosts your 9V supply internally to a bone-crushing 36V, granting massive headroom, clarity, and brutal loudness. They’re not saying this is the loudest Muff-inspired pedal ever built. They’re saying no other one dares to be this loud.
Enter the DOOM
Inside lies a forbidden rite — the DOOM switch. Flip it, and the gain stages plunge into beast mode. It alters the corner frequencies of the circuit, shifting from mid-forward Sovtek crunch to a low-end hammer that sends everything through the clipping stage. It’s like detuning reality.
Independently Usable Clean Boost
The Boost circuit is a standalone leviathan: up to +36dB of clean push with a secret agenda — it subtly excites upper harmonics, mangles fuzz textures, and sends tube amps into frenzy. Combine with the fuzz for infinite sustain, square-wave chaos, and even death metal style gnarlyness.
Grind control warps the boost’s EQ curve — from near-flat to a brutal HM-2-style scoop that turns your tone into serrated concrete. Think chainsaw tones buried in molten tar.
The Altar was their first-born — and with this version, it has ascended. It’s no longer just a fuzz. It’s not even just a distortion or overdrive. It’s a temple of tone, a heretical monument to Pink Floyd, Entombed, Bongripper, or even your most soul-crushing dad-rock licks.
One box. A thousand voices.
