Gibson Hummingbird Special Acoustic-Electric Guitar – Satin Vintage Cherry Sunburst

There’s a reason the Gibson Hummingbird has been a favorite of players since 1960. With its unmistakable square-shoulder body, warm, full-bodied acoustic tone, and iconic Hummingbird styling, the Gibson Hummingbird Special brings that classic Gibson sound and feel to a guitar built for everyday playing, recording, and the stage.

Finished in Satin Vintage Cherry Sunburst, this Hummingbird has a beautifully understated look that lets the wood and classic design speak for themselves. The satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish gives it a more natural, understated appearance, while the simplified Hummingbird pickguard graphics keep the look true to the original.

The solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides deliver a balanced, woody tone with plenty of warmth, clarity, and dynamic response. Dig in with a pick for a strong, punchy strumming sound, or ease up for a more nuanced response when fingerpicking. The traditional scalloped X-bracing helps the guitar breathe and respond to your playing, making it equally at home with singer-songwriter material, country, folk, rock, and blues.

One of the standout features is the slightly thinner concert-depth body. Compared with the Hummingbird Standard, it offers a tighter, more controlled bass response that sits nicely in a band mix, while also making the guitar more comfortable to hold during longer playing sessions. The rounded neck profile and rosewood fingerboard provide a familiar, comfortable feel, with pearloid parallelogram inlays that give the Hummingbird its unmistakable identity.

When it's time to plug in, the onboard L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle pickup and active preamp deliver reliable amplified sound for gigs, rehearsals, and recording. The conveniently placed soundhole-mounted volume control makes quick adjustments easy without cluttering the guitar with extra controls.

Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, this USA-made Gibson Hummingbird Special is a great choice for players looking for classic Gibson character, practical stage-ready electronics, and an iconic acoustic guitar that feels just as right on the couch as it does under the lights.
