Detroit: A Musician's City!
The amount of incredible music that has emanated out of Detroit in the past 60 years is staggering! From Stevie Wonder to Bob Seger to The Black Dahlia Murder and everything in between, some of the greatest music of every imaginable genre has been churned out of the Detroit area.
This city is known for mass production - of both cars and musical talent. Its residents have forged ahead through more than their share of tough times, and its musicians have written the soundtrack all along the way.
We'll be showcasing Michigan music here on the new Motor City Guitar website, both legendary and up-and-coming artists. Let's kick it off with two Detroit-based bands!
An incredibly talented hard rock band, these guys have been spreading their powerful, melodic sound on tour from coast to coast over the past year. Check them out at the Machine Shop in Flint, Michigan on January 5th!
Slight Return combines elements of several music genres into their own funky, chunky rock stew! They've collaborated and recorded with an amazing list of legendary artists including Dennis Chambers, Billy Cox (Jimi Hendrix), Davey Pattison (Robin Trower), Andy Vargas (Santana), Dennis Coffey (Funk Brothers), and fellow Detroiters George Clinton (P-Funk) and T-Money Green (Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre), who are guest performing with them in this video:
